Wouldn't go with the powerflex lower engine mount just yet - there have been a few problems with it that AFAIK haven't been sorted.

Sounds like a great deal for the Tourer. And having owned both cars I reckon the good news is that the camchains on the CDT last thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of miles longer than those on the good old Triumph Stag.

Thanks,

Definitely got problems with the engine mounts. Had a look underneath and both exhaust mounting rubbers have sheared from the vibrations.

Will need to get the mount done.

Thanks for the thoughts on the chains! Although I am not planning to do hundreds of thousands of miles in the Stag ;-)

Ok, an update....

Decided to put her in for an MOT. Going in on Tuesday this week. Had a good look underneath on Saturday. As mentioned above, both exhaust mounting rubbers sheared at the engine end. I guess due to the vibrations from the engine mount. Otherwise, all looks pretty good under there.

Checked both rear springs for breakage, but they look complete and weren't loose (car up on four-post lift). Doesn't mean they aren't weak, but at least I know they are not broken. I still think it sits low at the back.

One tyre is borderline, so will replace (others are all good).

Will need to get a passenger side chrome skullcap mirror at some point so that they match.

Not going to do anything else until the MOT but until then I spent a bit of time cleaning........

Now looks like this:

Default just bought a tourer

hi Mark. good luck with car. could be an optical illusion but, from the front view looks like a lot of space between top of tyre to wheel, rear view looks ok to me. then there's the tow bar. rear been under heavy loading making it sag pushing the front up. your call

I think it is too low at the back. Had it up on a four post lift and it looked like the rear springs were OK, maybe they have just weakened. Either way I have decided to have a crack at replacing them. Have read through the how-to and will be ordering up a set of springs tomorrow! Got a few bushes to do at the front as well.... should keep me busy!

Thanks. Once all the jobs are done, should be fine.

I'm in Crawley too, I'll have to keep an eye out for you!

Sounds like you are pretty hands on with working on cars. If you are mid-way through a job and find you are missing a tool give me a shout. I've been in that situation myself on a Sunday afternoon when Halfords is closed. Not that my tool kit is that extensive...

I think its the front thats too high - has it had new springs on the front? I suspect they aren't genuine Rover springs. Nothing much to worry about, but thats my hunch.
