I do not have the Renault 5 thermostat but the Specialist Components in line thermostat assembly.
The 92 degree stat is FTS104.92 They were fitted with 88 degree stats (FTS104.88) but mine started opening at lower temperatures and needed changing, so as advised by SC I fitted the 92 degree stat. |

Sounds like your in-line stat has a leak. It is not shutting the water off but letting it leak past.---

That would very much surprise me if it leaks past, because it is a very tight & snug fit.
Still not getting higher than 57 degrees, after bleeding the coolant circuit So can't be an airlock ... |

Stupid question but you did fit it the right way round ?
And don't rule out a faulty new thermostat |

Yes I put it the right way in, like on the video on Youtube.
I can of course edgily remove it (I hope to get it out again) and test it in warm water, right ? |

I removed the new inline thermostat : all was tight fit, etc, so I took it and filled the "backside" with water under the tap : and its liking like crazy !
I suppose it should only get open at 88 degrees. Its not fully open, but definitely leaking quite badly ! And it's a brand new thermostat ?! COLVERT and sewerman : thanks of the tip ! I will get a new thermostat next week |
