I have the soundtrack cd if you can do anything to remove the lyrics. Just looked on my ipod and there is an instrumental called on days like these (self preservation society instrumental) by Quincy Jones. If this is any good let me know and i will see if i can sort you a copy

There is a Matt Monro album of his songs -karaoke style- but they sound like the original soundtracks to me. On Days Like These is included. I havent got the album but can get you a copy of the track if you wish. PM me, I could send it via e mail if you are on Broadband.
