As a student, you get 6 months free and then it's only £39. I have actually saved quite a lot of time and money going through Amazon prime. Also get their instant video. It's value depends on your purchasing habits.

I signed up to the free trial, just to see what the TV stuff was like. 'Rubbish' sums it up nicely.

Cancelling was easy enough via the Prime account tab, but just to make sure, I contacted Amazon via the 'live chat' facility, got them to confirm the cancellation and then had the transcript eMailed to me.

It won't, I suppose, physically stop them taking the £79 via my debit card, but they won't be able to say I didn't cancel!

I signed up for Amazon prime before Christmas and managed to cancel it very easily. I couldn't see the point of it. I also had a trial with Sky's now TV box with free film subscription. Just like Netflix I found the selection of films on offer very poor and aimed at exactly the market they were intended for. I kept the box though which is the best £10 I ever spent.

Rubbish

They CANNOT take the £79 without you agreeing to the Prime membership that they'll have offered you for a free trial alongside an order you made etc...

Either you or someone has agreed to this

We all make mistakes, it's easy enough to get it refunded so just admit you've forgotten you've done it sometime recently in the past...

This or you've been defrauded which means you need to escalate it...!

This!

It took me 30seconds to cancel it by going into 'My Account' and following the steps from there!

I've almost fallen foul of this - luckily I'm a stickler for small print, so I spotted it. Easily missed, though!

They make it a very easy mistake to make - like before (dunno if they still do this) when if you ordered something it used to say "get this and x for only y" where the total charge for the two items was actually more than if you ordered them separately. They are heartless tax dodging sharks who will trick you if they have a chance (in my not very humble opinion).

When you click to accept Prime, even for the trial period there is a box to tick basically saying DO NOT RENEW after the trial period. Had a couple of Prime trials and just click that one, and all is good.
