I would try paint stripper, guaranteed to work..

Is that the brand that only strips certain colours? Of course you could also use a hot-air gun.

How about an angle grinder, off in a flash and then a nice cup of tea while you stand back an admire the results!

Could do, Yep i think that would do it.. Or a sturdy file would work also..

Its all good. I used toothpaste and instead of a toothbrush used a wire brush

Would that be with a paint brush or paint roller. A paint brush will give that old fashioned coach painted look, whereas a gloss roller will give a brush free finish.
