I've yet to have the pleasure of removing the motor Mr Lates
Usually the speed module or relays. Best to change the module & the relay for good measure as my belief is when the relay gets dirty contacts, it damages the module. I have modules here on an exchange basis. 40 Relays in stock also

So had a look at the fan today, I can see the fan housing but looks extremely troublesome to remove as there is many other parts in the way. May have to see if I can find the relay and test that if not it's book it into a garage for them to do. Not ideal and could be expensive but not much else I can do at the mo. Aaaaahhhhhhh.

I will sort out a photo and upload it. I have removed it and it looks exactly the same as the one on the link that you shared earlier on the thread. I took it apart and it appears that 2 of the 3 solders that join the top board to the bottom have broke. Was gonna try and re solder them and see if that works.

Photos of the resistor thing i removed earlier today with 2 of the 3 solders broke that join the top board to the board underneath. I was going to have a go at re soldering the 2 joins and see if it works. If not look for a replacement.

Just wondered if you ever got yours working again.
The fan has stopped working altogether in my 75. I've check passenger fuses 4, 11 and 33, and under bonnet fuse, swapped over module in Jules' pic, and assumed it was the blower motor itself. After reading the Haynes manual, it seemed it would be a huge job, removing pedal box, dropping steering column etc. Found a different ( not sure if it's easier or quicker cos never tried the above method) way, which was to unbolt the blower motor from the heater matrix, and turn the unit 180 degrees in situ so the fan is pointing into the drives footwell. The clip on the motor spindle can be removed, and with some patient persuasion, the fan itself can be taken off the motor spindle, allowing the 2 parts out of the very tight gap separately. This however I've only tried on my Auto. Manual looks even worse still. After all that, I plugged in a replacement fan, and still nothing. Either the replacement is dud, or there's something else I still need to trace. I'll have a search for the ATC diagnostic trick and also try and bench test both motor unit first I think. Any further pointers gratefully received. Last edited by Typhoon190; 18th April 2014 at 07:21.. |

Did you try swapping relays 2 & 5?
Was the module a known working one?!
