Did an alternator change for a chum of mine who bought a superb car that had charging light on, He wanted to do the hour or so drive back home, but I informed him it may be not as straight forward as that. I supplied and fitted a replacement from jacking the car up to putting it back to the floor in 3 hours. This was made more interesting by the rain we got blessed with, but that aside, he drove it home and loves it. another thing to also consider by changing just the brushes is weather the alternator is drowned in oil or not as this one was totally soaked and brushes box would have made little difference in my opinion.
