So, if the undertray hides the fact that you haven't got a cat, you should be OK because it cannot be removed....?

Can't really argue with that

I'll have to sort something out before November as I sold the old one for 150 quid

However as they're not too expensive, I'm not too concerned. With this one you also get a new flexi section as well for between 83 and 125 quid with a 24 month warranty. Not certain what changed in March 2001 to cause the difference in price

I read in a car magazine lately that if the car is tested for emissions and it left the factory with a cat it must present fir a mot, but diesels are not tested on emissions so its not needed.

Irrelevant now, this change says cat should be present. How diligent your MOT tester will be is another matter.

quite so! lots of cars are wall to wall plastic underneath (a class merc for example) if you cant see it you cant test it, your not even allowed to remove a hub cap! but, there is talk of us having "scopes" in the future...........

Just wait until they say your EGR valve has to be present as fitted OEM as well, which I've no doubt they will, if they are going to town on the emissions.

You did keep your EGR valve to refit, didn't you ?
