I think the finish on the posts is what's known as "black chrome" so metal polish should be the stuff to use. I've had good results on the mirrors and plenums with an old bottle of Simonez "back to Black" which I use sparingly as it's now NLA and seems loads better than other brands equivalents on the market nowadays.

Hi Mike
one way to end mucking about with wax and back to black every few weeks is to
do what I did with the 800, buy a can of black gloss from motor shop
mask off as much of the car as you can, use fine wet and dry paper
just to take any sheen of it then clean with detergent then dry with
hair dryer, spray about 5 inches away and try and get a even (glossy)
finish then it will dry like satin black, don't buff with T cut or it will
go shiny ! then it should stay permnent satin black.
go on have a go ! wait till the wind stops though. Ted

That sounds great Ted, but why not just use Satin Black spray?

Hi Bill, that sound more obviouse but it could go like the original
with the weathering , back to square one, the gloss/satin does look
nice and rich, a bit like you've just waxed the satin paint if that makes sense,
I would imagine it would be easier to get an even finish with satin though,
we'll have a go in the spring and find out eh? regards .Ted
