Everything is working apart from the steering wheel controls... I also have the mini ISO with 2 wires running into the centre block, can I use those?

It depends what make of head unit you are fitting. Most makes of head units when connected to Rover steering wheel controls need a interface unit

The steering wheel control wires in the mini iso plug are shown below.

The wires are blue/orange and blue/purple for the steering wheel controls no matter if they are in the mini iso or pins 2 & 3 of the grey iso plug.

I still don't know where the connectors I need to test are - behind the steering wheel or behind the Symphony.

Btw, there are 4 different part numbers for the rotary coupler. What fun.

Either. Check for continuity between the Blue/Purple and Blue/Orange cables at the grey ISO connector while operating the steering wheel switches, or you can do the check under the steering wheel (as in Duotone's picture)..

Thanks Ray.

I might as well go for the steering wheel - it's easier than trying to get behind the Symphony.

Is this the grey ISO connector (fig 16 here)?

It's a grey connector but it hasn't got Blue/Purple and Blue/Orange cables. (Different colours on the MG perhaps).

The grey ISO connector plugs in to the back of the Symphony, the cables are in pins 2 & 3 as in Duotone's diagram in post 9.

Yes, I've seen Duotone's diagram in post 9 - that's the Symphony end.

What I'm trying to establish is where the steering wheel end of the same cable is - it must be the grey connector shown in fig 16 but the cable colours are different on that car (a ZT). They're also different in Duotone's post 6 (there's no Blue/Purple or Blue/Orange).

They are Blue/Purple & Blue/Orange in the car loom, (75 & ZT) from the ISO connector to where it is connected to the steering wheel loom and change colours (under the steering column shroud). That loom also has the horn and cruise control cables and the other end of it is the connector in post 6.

So if I take the airbag and steering wheel off I won't find Blue/Purple & Blue/Orange cables because they've changed colour further along the loom?

Yes, you can see the cables that go to the audio switches on the wheel, in the picture.
