The fan is cooling the engine coolant as well as operating with A/C. If your fan does not come on at all then you are in all sorts of trouble.

As GG says, you are currently running on the "back up" of the higher speed fan. If this fails then problems are iminent. Best get it sorted.

Gary,
Small consolation but I'm in exactly the same boat as you. I only checked after reading about fan failure a couple of days ago. Could have been like it since I bought the car in April for all I know and with winter arrived it's not an immediate problem. Anyway, I guess it's most likely the resistor so I've just ordered one from Jules. Let's hope we both get sorted. Tom
