Not completely void, you still have third party cover, that part cannot be voided. Other than that, it would depend upon circumstances.

Just for curiosity,if you had a car on SORN parked on road with a full cover on it,would the DVLA driver be allowed to lift up the cover to check number plate.

I would imagine so. Isn't it an offence to obscure a number plate on a public road?

Yes it is and it carries a £100 fixed penalty.

There’s a house along the road with 4 cars. 3 of which have expired mots, no insurance and sorn markers. 2 have the same numberplates but only 1 is in use and the other has recently been hidden with a car cover. They’re all parked on the street.
