Living on the south coast, I may be in a position to drive the owner from Le Havre or Cherbourg to pick her up after repair, using the ferry from Portsmouth. I live in Southampton.

I agree with the above, Portsmouth/ Southampton immediately after disembarkation. There's always a risk of getting pulled by plod, but needs must, worth the risk, I reckon.

the problem is if someone goes and gets it, books it in for mot, and it fails, they,ll be a bit stuck, unfortunately we cant vouch for it now, as we sold it two years ago

I think if anybody is getting a free car then they can accept the risk of a MOT fail, even if it does fail they've still had a day out to France and a drive of a nice car

I agree, lol, but the person would have to live not far from the ferry as you cant drive far after an mot fail

I'm getting a bit lost now. Would be willing to help anyway I can regards transport to the car after repair, Channel Tunnel or ferry crossing as previously described. Don't see any issue with sending parts to France for repair, then M.O.T. on arrival in U.K.

If one was to do Portsmouth Le Havre return, it could be M.O.T'd in Southampton, then left on my drive if it fails. Who actually owns this car, and therefore the decision-maker?
