Let's say the dealer bought the car for £2k. I would say he probably spent just under 1k on on the belts, wheel refurbish, service etc.
He would need to allow £500 for the possibily of something going worng and the buyer returning to have it fixed. So, on top of the £3.5k, he has to pay for premises, insurance, and then earn a profit in order to make a living from selling cars. I don't resent a dealer trying to make a healthy profit from a good car. The question is, would you buy the car at say £5k to £5.5k from a dealer? I would, if I wanted another car - it's a beautiful looking vehicle that should last another 5+ years. Last edited by MSS; 13th August 2016 at 09:04.. |

Agreed people seem to think premises, insurance and wages and time is free. He will have to pay VAT or at least inland revenue on his earnings etc. If its worth the money someone will buy it or he will have to reduce it.
Fair play to the chap, in my eyes profit isnt a dirty word. |

It's the World we live in I'm afraid, everyone wants things at low prices and don't think of the hidden costs for sellers and only see immediate value.
If this were a private sale then it would be expensive at that price but from a dealer with the hidden sale costs on top the price can be expected. Buy private cheaper with no peace of mind or pay extra from a dealer with peace of mind due to consumer protection etc. Buying the car, getting work done on it and with the hidden costs the dealer probably isn't making a huge profit over what they originally paid for it. Be thankful that dealers are still sticking their necks out with MG Rovers and helping to keep them on the road.

Must admit that age hidden that is a lot of car for the money. It is gorgeous. Not that many left with that kind of mileage. Money is always relative to how much you have isn't it? My pal just spent £83,000 on a Range Rover Sport...could I...err...no! Is it worth that? To me no! To him..absolutely! ( lucky NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-) |

It may not get used as a daily in which case it will last forever.5-6K for a lifetimes motoring pleasure or even or 5-10 years of daily use is a bargain in my eyes. What a lovely top spec car.

Exactly, my mate has just spent the best part of 20k on a Focus and its not even RS or what ever they call the posh model. It will be worth what this Rover is now in 3 or 4 years and is dull as dishwater.
