Ah well that is the next part of the experiment
first job get time and date on the bus next job establish if we need any more than that i.e a broadcast on FF rather than a dedicated address Goal is A, Get Time and Date on the Bordmonitor to make it look complete. B, To get ETA calculations C, because I think (again can't prove it yet) that once time is on the bus we could get the Auxiliary ventilation menu up and working as well. The FBH can be controlled over the K-Bus and set for timed start up but again we need clock first. Loads of possibilities if you think about it Dave Going further How about turning on the side lights at going to/from work time etc. How about a him her menu that sets the mirrors (actually I am not sure they can be controlled over the bus as I don't remember seeing any diags on testbook) Ditto a him her button for those with electric but not memory seats. How about for those without a FBH enabling an electrical heater of some kind btw reversing camera has just arrived from Hong kong no info with it so I assume the centre pole on the red female jack type plug is +12v? (It is an odd looking connector I will have to go trawling the maplins mogalogue) |

More thoughts look at some of the traces saved on hack the Ibus
look for 80 to FF then the time date message I think it is broadcast as well as sent and drawn specifically to the screen V28 is now out Nav tweak is excellent I have finally got hold of a Proper MGR Sat NAV OS firmware CD it is different to the BMW ones, debugging it now Tim Hayton I think mentioned a contrast menu slider although I can't remember seeing one myself A little trick take the Nav comp out let the TV module take over - more colour choices which I think persist on the TV tuner at least when the Nav comp is reconnected split screen radio does make the info tight If you go to a 16:9 and once you re program the info and select buttons to work properly you will find split screen radio may revert to full screen. I have never been convinced split screen radio was actually meant to happen it is more an accidental feature gained during the os upgrade imho Last edited by Keith; 7th November 2006 at 11:41.. |

Will manually try sending time & date info on the IBus.
See if ETA calcs operate. You could try same and see if FBH can be controlled (do'nt have FBH) As far as I remember with the camera it's a standard power connector with centre +ve. Remember two sizes 2.1 & 2.5mm |

Switching car lights on no longer dims the 4:3 nav display. Wonder if the photcell info is transmitted over the iBus to the nav system ? |

if you remove the nav comp the graphics card in the TV tuner takes over oddly it has more colour schemes to choose from (all naf though)
no problem with the 16:9 screen they have just dropped the TP and Dolby buttons Replaced with Mode sensitive info and select functions which are normally coded to the car by BMW tech when the os is upgraded I will post a howto to cover it mine work ok PM Tim re contrast and brightness The photo cell I think control brightness directly on the screen the difference is the menu option is not there to select it and I think if it was there to chose then the nav comp is just used to enable the sensor to take over I have not noticed a change in brightness on mine (darker blue in the BMW scheme though) but it is highly possible. You have had a good nose about in the diags menu same one as you went into to enable perspective mode? |

Will try removing Nav system and see what the tuner shows. Found the Contrast under the other setup menu. Already been in there, it's up full. The reason I am guessing the photocell/ screen brightness is controlled over the comms bus is I have lost the lights on dimming action on my 4:3 screen. If it were controlled direct, would expect it to still operate ? In my experience the LCD screen backlighting has one level... full output and they change the luminance levels on the video output.... cheapest method. What happens on your 16:9 display when you 1... Turn on the lights.... does it dim ? 2... Cover the photocell? 3... Illuminate the photocell with a torch ? Will look again at my menu options see if there are any selections for screen brightness control. |
