In a 75 it would say in a very gentle voice "I am awfully sorry I have let you down but I seem to have a stop light malfunction, please forgive me"

In aZT "you have a brake light out mate"

I reckon they would do voice packs to download in different accents, like they do for tomtom. I can already hear the Cockney and Scouse versions, and strangely I want them in my car! I'd probably crash laughing

A lot of Renaults had this in the 80s (Renault 9 and 11 Electronique as well as the Renault 25)

In aZT "you have a brake light out mate"

Or in a certain kind of ZR CSE (Chav special edition) " Brake light out init" and when everything is running normally "safe init, respect!"
Or in the event of full power being applied when fuel is low "rinsing init!!! have you cashed your giro?"

This would be trimmed in Burberry.

(Apologies to any ZR owners who don't actually talk like that)

Ahh those were the days lol, they were very cool at the time but very unreliable. It was a nightmare working on them - anybody remember 'cobest' and the hand held testers Austin Rover used at the time Maestro had a solid state dash and the Montego a much nicer LCD unit

Yes but AR pipped them to the post with 'the first'.

Apparently caused problems at Renault as their launch material said 'the first'.

At least this is the story I was told.

I still remember the Monty one. Before you started up, you'd check everything, hoping to keep it quiet. Switch on, and silence. Then thirty seconds later:

"All monitored functions are working correctly"

Aaaaaaargh.
