Phil; remember that the dripping will only be seen a few minutes after the engine has been stopped. The evaporator has to have time to warm up so that the frost melts.

Do you think I can I rod them from under th car?
Yes, you can.

Also I wonder where you can get them air con bombs from?
From any motor factor, probably including Halfords, but most people search e-bay. Remember though that there are two types. The commonly available deodorisers are not very effective at killing the bacteria which cause the smell. For that you need a product with bactericide which are best obtained from a specialist air con. parts supplier, or you could pay a mobile specialist to do it for you.

Hi Simon,

Thanks for taking th time to answer. That's great info. Iv also been since told by a friend that th air entering air con is filtered first, so blocked tubes are not a issue. Ill go down th specialist route for bactericide. But as for th misting windows at night after day time use. It must be getting residual water from some where??? Car is dry as a bone every were and only mists after day time air con use.
Thanks again Phil

The tubes have nothing to do with the filtered air intake. The tubes are there only to allow the melted frost to run away to the ground so they are very unlikely to be blocked.

You're not alone with this problem Phil. It happens to me too, usually when I change from air conditioning in humid conditions to normal ventilation. I'm still trying to work out the cause. It might be linked with the location of the filter outside the passenger compartment where it's exposed to humidity, particularly during rainfall when the water can enter the chamber where it's mounted. Our small hatchback also has air con. with a filter inside the cabin, and this car doesn't suffer the 75's misting problem you've described.

Have you checked your plenum chamber is clear; I have just got a ZTT which has the spyhole mod. could not quite see so took the panels off and the chamber had allot of water in and the cabin filter was pretty mouldy and stinky. Rodding and a new filter has cured the cabbagy smell.

Hi Dave,

Yes plenum chamber is clear and checked regularly. Filter was changed and is dry and clean. But thanks for your thoughts.

Cheers Phil

Hi Simon,
I didn't make my self clear sorry. My friend said air taken in is filtered so tubes are un likely to be blocked due to no contaminants entering and been washed through. Re misting I think th sales peeps would say "they all do that sir".. Mine like your's does th same as you describe above..

Thanks for th reply.

I think they get blocked by whatever it is that grows in the evaporator chamber itself, (the stuff that causes the smell). I could be wrong.

They are very difficult to rod due to the curve and I think it's very unlikely they block. When I changed them they where clear. I think it's possible some vapour doesn't always drain due to parking on inclines and this is what smells.

Mine has been loads better since deodorising as the pictures show. It's very straight forward.

Hi,

Never had a puddle under mine no matter how long it has been on... Strange as all th others iv had did. Car is parked on a incline at home but level at work. Deodorising looks a good bet. Thanks

Phil
