Same happened to my battery when it went to the garage for repair.
They never bothered to lock it because it was in their locked compound.

Basically, not locking or locking the car is like keeping systems on standby or powering them down completely (locked)
It's a trait that afflicts most cars that run modern electronics

Well, parking light or a few systems running for twenty hours, l'm still not sure that either would have been enough to completely flatten a good battery.
No matter though as the battery charger greeted me with a green light on Monday & the car powered up & started first turn of the key. Then the MoT guys passed her without advisory & complemented me on the fine condition she was in all round.

BTW, in case anyone wondered, she was parked in the road opposite ours on Saturday night as there were no spaces down ours, which is the reason l'm unaware whether the alarm was activated or not.
All's well that ends well though.

Looking at the photo on the bottom of your post Im suprised a man who boards his windows up for security would never forget to lock his car.

It does appear that way in the picture, doesn't it. That's in Barnstaple, that infamous hotbed of crime where l bought the car. Whereas London, as you know, is a church fete by comparison.
