![]() if you are struggling to drill the hole out aren't you going to equally struggle to tap the hole out too?

![]() Well thankfully a helicoil has worked and bolt torqued up to the correct setting. Nasty job but its done and belt back on with nice new tensioner, idler and water pump. Phew!
Many thanks for all input John |

![]() Well i thought all was well but the pulley must be at a slight angle causing a bit of drift. would imagine it is not fixable now with out spending mega money so unfortunatly it will have to go to be broken !

![]() Can you take some pix so we can see what the problem is and hopefully help you. It would be ashamed to scrap a car for the sake of one bolt. I am thinking that perhaps a stud chemically screwed into the helicoil at 90deg to the block could be a solution. Don't scrap it yet, let members put their thinking caps on and come up with a solution.
Edit: I assume the hole that contains the helicoil is in at a skew and when the tensioner is bolted up the tensioner wheel is not parallel to the belt. If you cannot fix the bolt hole I would look at fitting a tapered shim under the tensioner that takes the skew out; a penny washer filed to a taper would do the job and held in place at the correct angle with a dab of superglue whilst the tensioner is fitted.
