Hope you get it sorted buddy.
If it's the Mk1 it's really easy to do. It will take longer to attach the badge than it does to take the grill off.

That's okay.
It does look as if you can remove the grill separately but sadly not. I wonder if it could be done though, make the grill detachable.

I can confirm the bumper does need to be removed on a facelift. Does not take too long to do though.
