Well the Northumbrian Meet didn't gather quite as much interest as I would have liked but & it's a big but it turned into a very enjoyable weekend.
I finished work at 12 yesterday & went home & gave the car a quick once over & was joined by JigThePig we headed off up to Woodhorn where Barry bse1966 was loitering in the car park so we had a bit of a natter then Mike justmicky & his mate Jonathan arrived around 2 ish & we had a bit more natter & then they went to check in, Barry went back to work & Jig & me went for some refreshments in the bar soon to be joined by Mike & Jonathan..............this is where the plan fell apart as we were enjoying the "crack" & lost track of time so we blasted off up to Alnwick in Jig's Jag & had just missed the bus so we headed for a strategic point with a view to boarding further round the route but sadly I forgot that the bus went to a different spot first so we dived in the car & waited at Alnwick Castle & caught the bus for the last short leg of the tour. So in an attempt to redeem myself I invited ourselves for a visit to Dreadnought's depot to see the vintage bus fleet which I think everyone enjoyed. We then took a little more liesurely tour of part of the Coastal Route & dropped into the pretty village of Alnmouth for a quick look & then back down to Woodhorn at about 6 o'clock. We reconvened at 7.15 & went to the nearby Widdrington Inn for a meal & a few drinks & a good old natter This morning I left the house at 9.30 after my "Cranston's Cringer" breakfast & got up to Woodhorn where Stuart dc10sm & Ronnie suzublu were already waiting. As the morning went on the car park gradually filled up with 75s & ZTs & I was delighted to see Derekosb turn up in toe with pab from Glasgow. We did all the usual meet stuff you know tyre kicking, bonnet lifting etc. & BigRuss plugged his T4 into the Orange Express & we were very surprised not to find what we expected (more on that later) We had a bit of shower dodging to do during the course of the afternoon but everyone seemed to enjoy it, but one question that kept cropping up was Where's Fred Spencer? Well Derek & myself hopped on the little train & went across to the colliery museum & there was Fred taking photos...he'd been there since 10.20 & had pulled straight into the museum carpark instead of the lakeside but to be honest I think he had really enjoyed himself exploring the museum without having me tagging along getting under his feet We all started to head off & me Russ & Fred were still there at about 6.30 So thanks again to all who came I hope you all enjoyed it |

Many thanks for a thoroughly enjoyable weekend Colin. Both Jonathan and I had had a great time - from the chinwaggin, beerswilling, bus chasing and actual meet itself! Very enjoyable. A big thankyou to Ian (Jig the Pig) for chauffering us around and allowing us to get well oiled!
It was great to meet a few new faces once again and to have another reunion of the Milton Lodge Trio - imagine though are great surprise to find our elite trio has now grown to 4!!! Big Russ,Justmicky, my mate Jonathan and now PAB...........all born in the same hospital in Fleetwood, three of us in the same year and the baby of the family Paul! It's a small world! Cheers PS Thanks for the badges and pies |
