I had to use an app called Macrodroid so when you tapped the aux input it automatically started up the DAB app on my non navall 3 unit. As Jeff said it was designed around the nav 3 unit.

Hi Jeff,
so it may be Seans turn to deliver an update for that app.

I have set the equaliser to play nicely with the amplifiers in the car and sounding rather nice. But, the dab+ app completely bypasses this and no control whatsoever. Any ideas?

After running the star for a few weeks now, I thought I'd give some feedback.

Good points
Android!
Decent touch screen, responsive
Very fast boot time
Google play support
Connectivity

Bad points
Awful line out quality; low volume and alternator whine
Only 1gb memory, despite the unit supporting 2gb in a different configuration
Awful music app, useless play list support, simply creates a play list entry per folder on disk. No options to filter songs by artist or any other criteria. Random is only random within the current folder, not card-wide.
Ipod issue (ipod nano 4th Gen)
Back light fails when you turn the dash dimming down, unit thinks the lights are turned off and restores full back light.

The line out issues were fixed by adding high to low level converters to feed the amp.
The playlist issue can be worked around by putting all the files in a play list within a folder on the sd card, not optimal if a song is in multiple play lists though.

Unit does run goggle maps, which is what I use, IGO just looks so dated. It can be a bit slow though.

It's a good unit, with a few rough edges, which could be fixed with a bit more effort from the developers.

Still enjoy using it though, but it would be transformed with another gb of ram and/or a faster cpu.

Really shocked by the line out quality though...

Something seems odd there as I'm running a full compliment of front/rear and sub line outs to my Alpine amps driving my Focal speakers and have no alternator whine or any other noise and it's clean as a whistle through all driven channels

Primo is pretty much the standard navigation shipped with most units, plenty of other navigation programs out there if it doesn't suit and of course there are other music/media players available to use other than the stock one

All valid points though and always good to give feedback (good or bad) so the developers don't rest on their laurels

It is odd but it was 100% the star as i only replaced the head unit and those issues started, they weren't present with the previous Kenwood unit.

Got round it now though, so not a problem.

It isn't a very high voltage output on the phono pre outs and maybe your amps prefer being driven at higher outputs ?

I'm guessing that would be the case, anyhow, glad your sorted

I Think he answered that in his original post Hodgy

The line out issues were fixed by adding high to low level converters to feed the amp.
Cheers
