Washed and hoovered my car after yesterday's drive back to South Yorks from Whitby in heavy rain. Also fitted a new rubber to the brake pedal (manual gearbox version) as the car came to me with just a bare metal pedal.

The nice shiny wooden steering wheel bought of the bay recently, me thinking it was walnut, just going by the picture (and stupidly not asking) turned out to be probably dark oak, despite the photos, but still lovely. So I decided at long last, to take my light oak wheel and sand it down before applying a walnut stain. Waiting for the tin of gloss top coat to arrive in the post but its looking much better than the previous version, to go with the beautiful real walnut dash already installed!! Real walnut steering wheels seem to be rarer than gold-plated rocking horse poop!!

I had a couple of knocks coming from the exhaust area so today decided to get it sorted out. Found the cat itself was part of the problem with the internals while no y fallen apart had come loose and the whole lot was moving about inside the metal casing so it was sealed out and I also replaced the front rubber hangers with new. The exhaust no longer knocks but after the test drive I can hear what sounds like heat shield rattle do will need to get back under and pin point that

Managed to give the diesel a wash today. It really needed one. Used the usual Autoglym Resin Polish, finished off with a ceramic dressing. Smooth as a babies rear.

On Monday I sprayed underseal into the area where the boot leak was coming from. All dry now.
Tried to change the rear numberplate light unit. Simple job that I failed to do over a 4 day period. The problem was the threaded studs the middle two nuts were on turned with the nuts. I tried long nose pliers, normal pliers, mole grip, sticky stuff on the plier teeth,. but nothing worked. So today I took her to the garage to get it done and have them do the MOT.
She passed, but with an advisory that the front wheel bearings are on their way out. I bought a pair off DMGRS, then looked at a How-To. Bigger job than I'm capable of so that will be another garage job.

After a quick 80 mile round trip to Luton Airport took the car in for its Mot which it passed with no advisories again. That's a clean sweep of 18 passes - well pleased

Took car in for new front droplinks to be fitted, from DMGRS, followed by MOT.
Clean pass again.
