Have you moved your photos on photobucket Graham,
Only they aren't showing up on the thread now

Default Micro 4/3rds

Been hoping to find the time to post my kit here and tonight I have had the time to sort it all.
Having noted how popular DSLRs are on this forum I made a left field choice in building up a digital system.
My background was sport photography in film days mainly motorsport but football also. In my prime I was selling photos to drivers in the various paddocks and a few magazines as well as doing most of the photography for playscape racing (hire karts) in those early days. Great fun but a lifetime ago.
A chance encounter with a second hand micro 4/3rds body and kit lens got me into modern day digital and I have stayed within the micro 4/3rds family since.
Having bought a 2nd hand Panasonic G1 and finding it so versatile another G1 was acquired. A GF1 Panasonic also recently acquired as a plaything and my biggest investment till now a used Panasonic 45-200mm. This enabled me to man the touchline at my sons junior football matches all this season and take numerous photos which I pass on to there grateful parents. My son is getting more involved in junior karting as well and the system has coped well.
Those not familiar with micro 4/3rds you have a smaller sensor and mirrorless construction so the viewfinder if you have one is a EVF.
Unusally you have 2 manufacturers Panasonic and Olympus with the same mount so a choice of 2 OE makers of quality glass as well as Sigma on board as well. One of the many advantages of mirrorless is that you can fit almost any glass with any mount to these bodies with cheap adaptors. (given you are happy to manual focus and aperture priority). Thousands of cheap legacy glass out there to choose from. Crop factor is X2 so my 45-200 is equiv to 90-400 and so on. The 2 main players produce some excellent primes (remember those!) at sensible money as well as many zooms. Bodies are appreciably smaller than DSLRs and glass is smaller still.
Used G1's are circa £70-80 at the minute and a solid intro to micro 4/3rds.
Having decided to invest further in my system I have just received my 1st new body a Olympus OMD EM10 that is just about as modern as I can get in micro 4/3rds.
Not attempting to convert you lot to such equipment and in the Uk at least DSLRs still vastly outsell mirrorless.
List of gear
2 x G1 bodies
1 x GF1 body
1 x Olympus OMD EM10
Pani 45 -200
Pani 14 -45
Pani 14-42
Legacy 50mm, 135mm, 200mm and 300mm glass with adaptors ( remember the crop factor)
Will post some photos of the gear via tapatalk shortly...

Mark

Thanks your kind comments Jeff,
Spent every evening this week mastering a Olympus menu system after a year of solely Panasonic cameras. I remember when you could use a camera straight out of the box. Digital is a long learning curve for me. Love the potential of these modern cameras and the ability to customise settings.
May well post a few images, I only post to this forum via tapatalk with the inevitable loss of image quality.

Thanks for your interest thus far
Mark

Thanks Jeff, the timings still there when I snap, it's the technology I am slow at, if I have to resort to the menu mid session I miss most of the match.

What do you recommend re photo imaging software, I presently shoot in jpeg but am very aware that raw is the way to go as I get more serious.

Given I have virtually no experience of imaging software and no legacy knowledge what would you recommend...
