Aye - I've seen a fair few forests in the UK - all in November
Used to be very local to me did the RAC - Broxa, Dalby, Cropton, Wykeham, Ingleby and Guisborough - at one stage (pun intended) we could actually see the cars in the forest from our back bedroom windows
The Southern Scottish stages were always good viewing, - Wales less so, 'cos it nearly always rained when I went down there.
There was nowt like manning a time control in the middle of Kielder on a cold, snowy November night.

Thirded from here.
I tried to have a bonfire last night with the trimmings of the plum tree. They have stood for about 8 days, under a tarp, but still obviously too green to burn, tried all sorts, paper ,straw, firelighters, petrol, but even the thinnest of twigs would not take hold.
Off out now to the woods to collect some dead wood and dry kindling, to make a hot base, and have another go tonight.

Can't disagree with that Ian - it looks great out there - clear blue sky etc., but bah gum, it'd fit to send a brass monkey in search of welding gear
I'm not eating too much today as we're off out tonight to a country pub which serves rather large portions. Eight off us going - one of my lifelong friends goes into hospital a week on Wednesday for what we hope and pray will be a life saving bone marrow transplant - and this will be our last get together until the New Year, as he'll be in isolation for at least 6 weeks after his op.

Just dug out my almost pristine copy of the Lombard RAC Programme from November 1991. A few more regular stage names bring back cold memories

Wauchope, Redesdale, Falstone, Broomylinn, (all up Rich's way)
Hamsterley, Langdale, Gale Rigg (all round my way)
..... and to keep the Welsh happy:-
Clocaenog, Dyfnant, Hafren, Pantperthog, Dyfi, Penmachno (never been to any of these when it was dry!)

Happy days

Afternoon Rod, Yes the grey clouds have disappeared & blue skies abound.

I hope you have a great night & the bone marrow operation is a success for your friend.

I met Fred once at an autocross event back in the 70s, he was driving a Vauxhall Chevette, and the sponsors were my uncle’s garage, from Ponteland, who were GM main dealers.
