Thanks Derek - just got back from an absolutely smashing day out. Met our old friends (last seen at least 34 and possibly 38 years ago) - went for a couple of miles ramble around Hay Tor near Bovey Tracey; then we were treated to a tour (by car) of Dartmoor showing us some of the less well known sights; called at a cafe for coffee and cakes - and ended up in Wetherspoons in Newton Abbott, where I demolished a 10oz gammon steak with all the trimmings - washed down by a pint of draught Thatchers Haze cider. Angela managed to do justice to a lamb shank that was about a foot long.
The weather just got better and better as the day went by, culminating in a lovely red sunset which bodes well for tomorrow - when we're off to visit some of SWMBO's rerlations - at Paignton Zoo

The perfect day

Good evening Angela and Rod, I am glad to hear you haven't lost your appetite and your managing to get around everywhere. Looking forward to seeing the photos

Here is a photo I took of Dartmoor life in 2010

Thanks for that Phil - as you know, I'm rather proud of my local North Yorks Moors, but I have to admit that Dartmoor gives them a close run for their money with it's wildness, magnificent views and wildlife, picture postcard villages and huge piles of granite on the Tors. Truly spectacular
