Well I've signed the petition and mail shotted it out to all my contacts and also written to my MP. The latter was very aloof and sniffy when he replied.
But I have to agree, it wont do any good. The only thing that will force the government to reduce the duty, is action, anarchy and civil disobedience. That is the trouble with our elected 5 year dictatorship politics - only taking to the streets will make any difference. Fill your car with 'alternative fuels' and if you get caught then go to prison and refuse to pay the fine. If everyone did it they would have to do something. If we don't will be paying £2 a litre soon. Of course it wont matter to bankers - putting a three hundred pounds worth in the jaguar doesn't hurt when you earn 600,000 plus 200,000 bonus. |

It is now so difficult to protest against anything in this country, the previous administration ensured that with their anti-terrorist legislation. The current incumbents have simply continued with this as we have seen with the student fees demonstrations. Besides they will simply quote the civil unrest in the middle east and that it is out of their hands.
I don't fancy having my car kettled, so sadly we shall no doubt pay whatever it costs and simply make savings elsewhere; no holidays, no new TV, no new washing machine. We're all doomed. |

Oil dropped by 7$ a barrel today, which should equate to 3p per litre reduction as they say a $2 rise causes a 1p per litre increase.
Who thinks it will come down? Stubs |

Were in the UK. Bend over and take one for the country its our way now. Fuel petitions are a waste of time. What happens when the fuel gets threatend to stop? People queue for miles filling up on the prices that they say are too expensive in the first place. This tells the government that we will pay whatever price they say we should pay. Everyone take your cars off the road for a week. That will do it, everyone boycot a company on a weekly basis, Shell first then BP ect. That would do it. But no that would take backbone, something sadly lacking in this country now. /rant off |

Over the pond in the US of A They are asking the question that we were asking years ago and thats Why is it when fuel prices rise its almost
immediate yet when the price goes down it takes wks....In their case fuel has risen 12% but since the price per barrel has started to tumble it has only droped 1% Now if this is happening in the USA aswell as Europe you have to ask who is making the money. |
