The radio in Karen’s car was obviously fitted by an imbecile, the fixing lugs at the top of the console had both been broken off or removed, it was just sat in the hole with a frame to keep it straight.
Today’s job was to remove and replace the console, clean the filthy mess down the side of the seats and fit the radio in the console so that it looks right and most importantly doesn’t move. The car now smells lovely after a carpet wash and the seat frames are once again sparkling, the radio not only works but it’s fitted as to how it should have been done. All in all a happy and rewarding day 😎 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Lucky escape
Finally got round to the driver's side sill today.
Not good....it's crusty around the jacking point as usual but also found a stretch of about 2 ft on the flat bottom from the jacking point going towards the front. It's not too bad but the underseal was hiding it. Out with the angle grinder to remove the underseal and after about 5 minutes....bang. One piece near me noggin and the other was about 15ft away.

Just got back from a 200 mile round trip. Nothing remarkable in that. But in the last year she has become lumpier and sluggish with a bit of smoke on start up. Diagnosed diesel injector fault so invested in a set of recon ones. Fitted them and she ran even worse, on 3 cylinders most of the time. However a bit of disconnecting and it was a different cylinder misfiring now. Put an old injector back in now she will catch pigeons again. New shocker on the back to replace a leaking one (just out of warranty wouldn't you know), and she is silent again on the back.
So, 200 miles non stop reminded me how good these cars still are, even with 285 000 on the clock. Hopefully that should see us to 300 000 and beyond! |

I swapped the electric heater control motor on the V8, it was constantly blowing hot air, its one of the more common probs these cars suffer from.
While I was in there I also replaced the scuttle panel due to it being broken in several places, 2 more jobs off the list. |

Moved it of the drive to service a local owners contemporary, then moved it back onto the drive ready for it's own weekend check over tomorrow, and a nice wash outside and a good clean inside.
