The situation with Southern Trains really needs to be addressed quickly.

Strike action is happening again tomorrow and Wednesday I think...

I'm fortunate as I have a choice. Commuters I spoke to last week don't have a choice.
It's been like that for many years Stu. In the early 80s when I lived in Croydon I have memories of trains being overcrowded and delays, always more unpleasant in the freezing cold. I don't know how they can make it better. I gather that Phillip Hammond is going to make any announcement this week that the government are injecting more money into the transport infrastructure, rails and roads. Time will tell if that is going to work or not.

We have been out this morning doing some Christmas shopping for my 2 brother-in-laws and their 5 sons. The sons are aged 17-23. None of them have beards and both of their dads are anti-beards. The dads and the sons are getting shaving cream, shaving brushes and safety razors all the same, so there are no arguments. I was thinking of adding to the shaving kits, 3 pack condoms. What do you think?
Well.........they used to be commonplace to purchase when you went to the barbers so I guess why not

The Uckfield line was very reliable when I used it regularly from '08-'12. It seems to have massively deteriorated in recent months. There's an ongoing staff dispute and so they're not working overtime.

According to someone who works there, their industry relies on goodwill and overtime and both are in very short supply!

I reckon trains and utilities should be nationalised to stop them from becoming political footballs, and run for the benefits of the public, not shareholders...

I'm not sure that'll happen though!

Afternoon all - what a shocking day - constant horizontal, heavy showers, bitter cold wind from the North - time to hibernate.
Been out to a funeral this morning (the Club member who was hit hy a car and knocked into the river). Huge turnout at Church, and around 70 to 80 came back to the Club for a drink, a nibble and "a celebration of the life of an English gentleman" afterwards.
Now back home, and in view of the weather, I ain't venturing outside the house again until it improves.

When i was a kid and was taken to the barbers that comment always baffled me .

I asked my dad once what the guy meant and my dad said he was asking if the guy needed Brylcreem.

Very diplomatic was my dad ..
