I have the update running for the past few days. It does work OK and some of the changes are really nice but there are issues e.g.

No Rover boot logo.

The radio interface has been redesigned as you will see in the vid. The AF is not fixed, station presets still stored on another screen. No names either.

The built-in music player has been redesigned slightly but it now clips the text for song name/title/artist for some reason. Also seems a bit slower to find all the songs on the SD card. It doesn’t always restart from where it left off like the old version did. “Next/prev” doesn’t next/prev, just skips to a random song.

The BT screen is completely changed. The BT still can’t pair with an OBD BT adapter so no Torque. Might work with wifi on an ad-hoc network, I didn’t try it. After a call, BT music would start to play. I disabled music in the settings on my phone so that’s fixed (I think)

Audio sources do not mute when iGo makes an announcement.

There may be other issues I haven't come across yet. I will be going for a long drive at the weekend so I will know a bit more afterwards.

Overall I think the firmware is more glitchy than 2.3.4. For example, I have had several audio sources playing at the same time – which I didn't want BTW I thought the wifi initially wouldn't work. It just hung when I switched it on. A restart seemed to fix it.

IMHO, its really not as stable as it should be. Its really up to yourselves if you want to update or not. While its nice to finally have Android 4.0, its not as stable as the existing version.

Apologies for my baldy headed reflection . I couldn't get out of the shot.

The factory screen protector is still on the unit as its only a few weeks old and I don't want to take it off as its a trade-in for Sean.

Thanks for taking the time to do this mate and the video too.

If its worse that the current version, then I wont be doing the update. Also notice that I could hear a hiss sound?

Cant believe its took the factory all this time to not really get any where, other than version 4.0.3 to give better (hopefully) compatibility to apps on Google Play.

I mean, for one, how they can not do a simple coding to display the radio station name and the name of it in the stored section is beyond me lol

From what you have described, all the bugs in 2.3.4 are present in 4.0.3...

I think I will do a trade in lol

Thanks again.

Sorry if we were slow in releasing this

This is why I like to think twice, if there is one thing i have learned in 7 or 8 years of doing business in China its to go slow. When the upgrade IS applied it is not possible to go back.

Tonight I will send out the Links and details with a stern warning to read this thread .

Cheers

Special thank you to you CDTI as always , efficient and professionally approached !

Don't mention the H word!

There is no hiss, it must just be the camera I was recording on. The audio quality has not changed at all.

In fact there have been no real improvements TBH other than nicer looking UI screens. The music app (which I use all the time) really needs to be fixed or replaced with the old one.
