Took off the inlet manifold (which oddly had a fixing missing so I'll dig out a replacement from the spares boxes) and gave it a clean which was a bit of a faff.
Tipped on end, poured a load of unleaded inside and left over a galvanised bucket, 40 minutes later the MAP sensor hole finally started to dribble. After a load of agitation down the chambers with nylon pipe cleaners and more unleaded the various holes opened up to their original sizes. Then got the Karcher inside and blasted the lot out, shifting a load of solidified rubbish in the process. So the inside is clean, one of my oil drainers is full of a very black mix of petrol and diesel and the bucket has a two inch thick layer of crud in the bottom. Thankfully the gaskets are all in good nick so no need to use the spares in the box. So, refit it today and change the PCV and pollen filters, then get the front bumper off to do the hoses, intercooler and the washer bottle. |

Finally found coolant leak
Front off completely to try and find the coolant leak that’s been evading me since last year. Finally found it at the hose joint from the bottom of the radiator to the auto box oil cooler. I was so happy to finally find it but it’ll have to wait till next weekend to be fixed. Back on target to have the car de-SORNed in June.

I got my new discs and pads today so after a trip to the tip which I took a complete grey alcantara interior too , it was time to change them.
I cleaned up the brake shields and a clean up of the caliper and carrier. I sprayed my carrier in blue, the caliper will be sprayed next then it’ll be time to do the others. Offside disc was a pig to remove, ive never struggled changing discs before but this one.... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Lifting Kit
I picked up the Halfords 5 piece lifting kit. The plan is to pay some younger keen lad to de-rust the underside of my Tourer. Waiting for a new dremel and other wire brushes to fit my drill, and of course the Kurust. I could only get Kurust in a 250cl tin (I ordered 2), and emailed them as to how many will be required to treat the underside of my car. Their answer was about as helpful as the proverbial chocolate fireguard.
Anyone know the likely number of tins needed (the MOT says corroded underneath, so there must be plenty to coat!). On the lifting kit, I believe one of the feedback comments was that the jack did not go high enough to get the axle supports underneath...go figure!

Don't know if this comes under 'What I did to my 75/ZT' or 'What I didn't do to my 75/ZT'
Plan was to change the gearbox oil today as the car is recently new to me and chap in work offered me the oil and a hand to do it, so rude not to! Put the car up in the air and could see some moistness to the nearside of the undertray, which when removed had more on the upper surface. Closer investigation has revealed that gearbox oil is leaking from the nearside driveshaft seal. Undertray put back on and a seal ordered from Mat. Better to find it now than in a few months time when the gearbox starts making funny noises. Ordered a R5 thermostat kit and PCV filter while I was ordering stuff for fitment in the near future. |

Took it for a 20 mile Italian tune up on lovely empty roads and then on for its annual MoT. Another clean pass for the next 12 months but I think I'll keep it on sorn for now until a little more normality returns.
