The double glazing fitters cancelled today, so I've now got the bumper crash bar and slam panel off my beastie as I try to find out what the fault is with the cooling fan.
I may even try to find that broken wire to the side light. |

Gave the car a wash and dry and checked the tyre pressures, all ready for the next journey.

Today I'm mostly....
In these days of not going anywhere, I'm taking apart a front subframe from a low mileage 75 T that I broke. It's done just 46,000 miles in the hands of an elderly guy that thought he'd bought a dodgem car. All of the front and rear suspension is going to replace my 130,000 mile parts on my 75, I'm moving the Pewter one on this year and it's getting some TLC first.

Got two coats of chassis black round the inside of the new rear upper arms.
Nipped up a few of the bolts on the gearbox pan that were weeping slightly following the swap (didn't want to do them up too tight against the cork gasket). |

Put the car on a SORN, jacked it up, removed the wheels, leaving it on axle stands and covered it with a dust sheet till I can get to play with it in a couple of weeks.

Now you know you are bored when you do this........
So while I was waiting for the paint to dry on the backplates, I washed out the old grease, polished my balls, and checked for damage, then reassembled the balls into their cages refitted the oil seal, then repacked with new grease. Finally the inner races were refitted, and the next part of the project was started. |

And the next part was.......
There is something gratifying about playing out in the sunshine when you don't have have to rush, so the new handbrake shoes were fitted, the bearings refitted, the new discs and the caliper carriers. Tomorrow will see the new pads fitted as I ran out of daylight and needed to head to pick up Mrs MB from work, then I'll check out the front end. I might even give it a wash Brian |

I was reading along happily until the part where you put your balls in cages.
Myself, I took the bumper off my MGF to repair a stretched bonnet release cable. That was much less kinky. Next week the plan is to start repainting the wheels on my ZT, followed by replacing the front suspension arms when I manage to build up the motivation.

Close, it's Volcano, quite a striking colour, a bit darker than Orange Grove.
Here's the car. I've now got it ready to go up for sale as I am retiring at the end of April spurred on by the Covid crisis. Prices of MGFs are a bit higher here in Canada. Mine is going up for the equivilant of 8200. quid ono
