Default Fuel duty

Just signed and think the government really conned us when we went from gallons to litres many moons ago,it used to be a penny increase on a gallon, but the public have not really questioned this or kicked off about this penny on a litre, which equates to approx 4.5p on a gallon.

Also as diesel is a by product that was around 10p a gallon cheaper, why has it suddenly overtaken the price of petrol ? Has popularity of diesel engines finally backfired. The government had diesel on a lower rate because of its benefits to the country as a more efficient fuel,so to get as many people using it and then slowly increase the duty etc really a pee take..

We know we are conned on everything "car/motorist" related,as motorists are just "cash cows" for a badly governed country, who seem to reward failure with large cash payments(bankers, football managers and politicians take note) but when the only answer is to tax or increase tax/duty it must be a time for the peasants to revolt.

Yes we are screwed every which way,but I have a question to finish my rant off which is...

What is the reason/thought behind the Insurance tax levied on vehicle insurance premiums, and my opinion is why is a tax added to insurance for law abiding motorists, and the morons without insurance get away without paying another tax !!!

John, When I was an apprentice at Ford's Dagenham in the early 60's I had a minivan and I was putting 4 gallons a week in it for £1. (that's 5 bob a gallon to you young lads or in decimal 25p a gallon and one gallon is 4.54 litres!!!). I was on £11 a week.
