Xenon bulbs
I don't have Xenon headlights on my 75 but a dipped beam bulb has failed and I went to Halford's to get a new one. Most of the display consisted of "brilliant" Xenon technology high performance bulbs.
Will these work in ordinary headlights because they are not the same as the xenon bulbs which go in pukka xenon headlights. They are labelled as being type H7. Any comments? |

They will work with normal headlights.
They're filled with xenon gas but have a normal filament. Basically halogen type bulbs but with xenon gas. They will have a higher kelvin figure than standard halogen, say 4000k or upwards rather than 3200k. The HID xenon lights work like an arc lamp without a filament. Cheers. |

There are Xenon bulbs and there are Xenon HIDs (High Energy Discharge). The bulbs contain some xenon gas to make them shine whiter. The HIDs are a completely different system operating at 20,000 volts and are not interchangable. The 'Xenon' lamps referred to by the MGR literature are HIDs. You can buy HID kits to convert your dips for around £70. Many outlets sell HID effect bulbs, but they are still filament bulbs like your standard ones.
