Does that make any sense? Is it supposed to do that?

Hi Bob,

Well,curious ? free energy ?
firstly 12 deg is fairly warm ;
secondly,don't trust the gauge ;use rather the OBD in 7.0 to get the
real engine temp.
however,are you sure your webasto is off (no tubine noise etc..)

No mystery ;unless the FBH 5 deg switch is permanently closed.
Wait for colder days an try again...

Everywhere on the forum is talk of the engine not heating up enough to open the standard thermostat. On the webasto site it shows a water pump (not sure how its driven). If the standard thermostat is closed, surely the pump will just cavitate? If this is so, I have just fitted a top hose thermostat and wonder what effect it will have on the webasto FBH

Especially in Winter when the cabin heater being used the engine often will not generate enough heat for the thermostat to open.

The Webasto waterpump on the FBH is electrically operated and circulates the coolant through the FBH and cabin heater matrix.

The whole heater circuit including the FBH is on the engine side of the thermostat so there's no chance of cavitation as it's a seperate system that's unaffected by the operation of the thermostat, the same is true if you have an in-hose thermostat fitted

I think I will have to get a timer somewhere so I can fire it up occasionally during the summer. Ebay? Hope the wiring is not too difficult. On another site today somebody has found one in the centre console storage box. Mine has not run since last winter so hope it fires up ok.
