Default Retrieved fault code 39 from ABS control unit

Got my 2.5 conny at a locale garage here in spain (english guys), and after they change the front break pads and sensor the car starting to act weird!!

The fuel consumption went up from 23.6 to 19.6mpg (city), and when I take right turns, it feels like something is wrong over by the left wheel

There is no warning lights on, and I used another (Bosch) garage who found the 39 fault code.
Just want to do a check with you guys here before I go further spendin pinpoint money

Any suggestions...and is it normal for this 39 ABS code to make the hight fuel usage as well??
Could it be something with the ABS modulator??

Thanks in advance,
Frank.

Don't know what the 39 means, but it sounds as if you might have a caliper piston sticking. Do you get the odd thing happening whilst braking and turning, or just when turning?

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

sure they didnt mean u0039 which is ,,vehical area network(van data bus, b (+) open cicuit , which to me would suggest a module isnt recieveing or sending commands, only other 39 wouldnt apply to you as it refers to the turbo,

Thanks for replies guys, but nothing strange when using the brakes.
Did a lot of reading here on the forum last night, and talked to the service people again today as I tough it could be a bad connection somewhere...but they where 98% sure it's a bad ABS module!!

The strange thing is....today I did a ride to Alicante and back, and now (all of a sudden) the mpg went from (earlier) 19.6 to 32.3mpg !!!!

I forgot to ask about the full faulty code they read out (39), but I'll deliver the car there for check tomorrow morning...so I'm pretty exciting to hear what they will say about the rising mpg :p

Could the battery reset have done the fix or ...?
Not sure if I want to spend unneccesary money at the garage tomorrow...what do you think ?
