Electrical connector.
Hi. Decided to give the car a clean over the weekend (75 1.8 petrol conn 04 plate face lift model) and noticed a connector on some type of plastic lug located behind the front grill and number plate. So being curious decided to have a closer look and apparently it's a pair of cables (orange & black) on a connector which plugs into a dummy connector and then connects onto a plastic spade connector behind the front grill. It's on the same wiring loom (ref YMD 002910) as for the front 2 indicators and when facing the car from the front it's just off centre to the left.Stuck a volt meter on the connectors and it read 3.6v with the ignition on and when switched off it read the same voltage for about 30 seconds. Can anyone shed any light on this. Thanks Kev

It might be but the temp sensor should be fitted to a metal bracket far left of the grill.
Some people have found them hanging loose. |

Orange and black? Yes Christopher has it spot on. It's the IAT or inlet air temp sensor that provides the instrument panel read out and readings to the air con and heated rear window.
AS GG says it should be attached to a clip on the grille (75) or bracket (ZT). Best get it put back to avoid damage. hth Mike
