You can use the "disk cleanup" function in system tools to delete system files that are no longer needed such as temporary internet files. You can also "defragment" the hard drive which will free up space and help your computer run faster!

Access these via the "control panel"

You will not lose any of your personal files by doing either of the above.

Hope this helps

The only real way to save space is to uninstal unused programs, or if you have gigabytes of music and/or photos move them to an external hard drive.

If your running Vista, system restore can occupy a really large part of your drive, By default, Windows Vista allocates 15% of the drive's size OR 30% of available free space, whichever is smaller.

Try this it's a free bit of s/ware, shows exactly whats taking up space on your drive.

You probably won't be able to run defrag if you are short of disc space. you could also try deleting the web cache files in Internet Explorer. Under Tools/Internet Options.
Photos take up a lot of space. Try burning some to CD. Buy a second hard drive (they are very cheap now) and mount it inside the PC case. Move the Swap file onto that drive, among other files.

I can recommend these 2 programs: http://www.stevengould.org/index.php...d=15&Itemid=69

http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/

They clear out all sorts of rubbish from your drive and they also clear the windows temp folder which is where a lot of spyware and malware tends to reside.
