Default handbrake light on dashboard

hi guys,if the adjuster on brake shoes is turned too far, ie to tighten up shoes closer to drums, will handbrake light on dash stay illuminated if they are too close.have set them so they are just touching drum when disc is spun by hand.is this correct or does it need backing off so that light on dash goes off,any help on correct setting appreciated, regards.

you should undo the nut on the handbrake before you adjust the drum brakes. take it right back to the end of the rod.
then adjust the drum tight, then back it off for 2/3 rachets.pull handbrake up 3/4 times to centralise the brake shoes, then check to see if wheel turns o/k.
when you are satisfied the shoes are adjusted correctly, then tighten the nut on the handbrake, but no more than 25 mm from the end of the rod.
