Default Rear seat belt, centre, not releasing when seat down

Hi all,
As above, have just got the car back from the entry certifiers, and the NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- rear seat portion won't fold back upright as the seat belt won't release. I had taken the trim piece out of the top so they could see the mount (in order to avoid heavy-handed, under-paid lackeys from breaking it), although I have since put that back in (a right ****** with the seat down and the belt not releasing). Anyone had this issue before? ZT-T, in case there's any difference...
Cheers
Andrew

(Copied from 260's forum cos I'm hacked off with certifier and lazy)

Andrew

Had the same problem with my ZTT. the rear centre belt was stuck. There were two problems, the button on the webbing was stuck under the plastic trim and the belt had locked.

Try releasing the seat back and adjust the angle of it until it releases. then the plastic button should pull out.

If you need to get the belt out of the seat, it's a real pain of a job, as the seat has to be taken out and stripped. You need a special tool for the zip as well

Hi David,
Thanks for the prompt reply, problem is the seat is already down, and because the belt won't release, I can't get it (the seat) back up again. I did wonder if the trim on the top had a special release tab or something but apparently not...

Yes, just had a read on Rave about seat cover stripping, had a nasty feeling a special tool was needed for the zip... wonder if my old boss has one?

Hi all,
Have got the seat upright now, managed to undo bottom bolt (car now has blood as well as sweat in it, lots of things to scrape arms on under the seat base). Still can't get it to release properly - are the belts the same saloon and tourer? Found one on ebay that says it's saloon...

Cheers

The tourer centre belt is unique to the tourer, as are the outer rear belts.

Check out the rimmers site for the part number, then put the part number in to the search function and it'll show which models it fits.

The plastic button is supposed to stop the buckle sliding back down the belt. If you pull the belt out fully, try wiping the belt with a cloth and bit of spray furniture polish. The silicon in it helps the belt to retract as there is less friction.

Cheers for that. I will give that a go. Yes I gathered the plastic button was for that reason, annoyed that it slid down again though. If it becomes more of a problem I might try a drop of epoxy on it, that'll stop it

Just come inside for a bit while waiting for rain to stop - have been busy lad repainting the subframes where I stripped rust off now that certifier is happy with it... NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- rain isn't helping though.
