![]() Hi all, I have a 2.0 litre deisel Rover 75 with an automatic gearbox. I have been told by my local garage that a filter is fitted to the gearbox and should be replaced when they change the automatic fluid this Thurday but they cannot source a filter, can anyone help, do they just clean the old one or can a filter be purchased somewhere. Many Thanks Ken

![]() Hmmmm. Think they will be a bit lucky to change the filter.
IIRC it is buried deep in the box and and you can only access it if/when the box needs heavy repairs such as a complete rebuild/overhaul. Has you garage had experience of the 75/Jatco auto box installation ?? To be fair I think many auto boxes do have a filter. But, in the light of the above, I do think that you should be carefull that your garage use the correct fluid. Do not accept the comment 'they all use Dexron ' or whatever. The Jatco box in the Rover 75 doesnt. Last edited by David3807; 9th March 2010 at 12:16.. |

![]() On the autoboxes I've ssen in bits the filter is a very coarse device, not like an engine oil filter.
The Rover instructions for fluid change don't talk about a filter change, so it's no wonder they can't find one. Rimmers don't list one either. I suspect they are not at all a replaceable item, but maybe cleaned and reused if the tranny is overhauled. Last edited by Departed; 9th March 2010 at 19:55.. |
