![]() The mechanic who resurrected my 75 said that no sign of water loss, prior to HGF, was not uncommon.
They showed me the blown gasket, what a pants effort! The 75/ZT is a fantastic, well built bit of kit, but that gasket is flippen awful ![]()

![]() Is there anyway of knowing (without taking it apart of course) if an uprated gasket is in your car?
what i mean by this is when were the better gaskets fitted since the 1.8 K series as it has been available since the launch in 1999? My car was registered in March 2001 and am hoping it's got something abit better than a slimey elastic bit of rubber sealing it! ![]() |

![]() I think that all were fitted with the slimey bit of elastic (very well described). As far as I know the upgraded gasket was never fitted to the K series until the Chinese reintroduced the MGTF (engine now renamed).

Best thing would be to buy a good warranty like i did for peace of mind mine covers claims to £1000 plus with only a £25 excess per claim it cost me around £325 from warrantyworks who were recommended on this forum ![]() |

![]() I think that the MLS gasket is actually the third generation . A previous "improvement" version was introduced when the plastic dowels were changed for steel . It had a thicker bead of slime !!!!

![]() Fingers crossed for you. The 1.8 is great value for money, just put a bit of what you saved aside, compared to the price of a diesel, in case the worst happens

Yes I think you are right as i read somewhere that Landrover developed it due to the amount of freelanders with HGF coming back to them within 1 - 2 years. I will make sure that full kit is fitted to mine if my possible elastic slime gives in ![]() |
