Going on holiday soon taking wifeys laptop with us to put the pictures on, just learn't the hotel has wireless internet (for free I think)

Laptop isnt Wifi, was only cheap and cheerfull, obvious question is what do I use to connect when I'm over there?

all you need is a usb wifi dongle like this.

http://www.web-systems.co.uk/?page=Products&pid=3358

most pc shops will have them , can be removed when you dont need it.

There'll be a button somewhere or a flick switch. What make is it? It may be a function key to activate.

There's probably an icon in the system tray, possibly with a Red X on it. Try double clicking it & looking at the options.

Agreed with the above. It may need enabling. Disabling it will conserve battery life when you are not needing it. It may be a switch on the side, or a button as others have said. There may be a key press Fn and one of the F keys at the top for example to switch it on and off.

On device manager, does all appear normal with it. (Ie, no yellow ! mark).
