it was actually quite an easy install all in all but the elctrics well and truly got me stumped, if anyone else is considering doing it i would suggest that you have some basic knowledge of electrics or atleast have someone on standby who does.

Just to clear up some confusion on Keith's original wiring suggestion.
I have spoken to him this evening & he agrees with my following reasoning for a slight change of plan!

As he used his T4 to switch ON & OFF the new fan speeds, and to generally test the new installation, he didn't take into account the fact that the Trinary switch operates the MIDDLE relay. (the one which he disconnected !)

So there is no Trinary Protection (high pressure or overheat of compressor)
if middle relay is made redundant.

Solution:

I leave the wiring totally untouched in the control box and make the purple wire redundant. No need to tape the black wire up as this is now used in circuit.

This re-think also matches the configuration with the later 2 speed control boxes.
(ie leaving the same end small relay outputs unconnected)

With my method, the fan comes on HIGH SPEED slightly earlier at 106 deg to 119 deg (see table below.)
I'd rather have the wiring this way than not have any Trinary protection!

So just to summarise, if you are completing a new Kenlowe install no need to remove the control box cover!
Simply make the thick grey wire redundant and connect motor as shown below

For anyone who's followed Keith's wiring....Don't panic it will still cool the engine when it should but just be aware you won't have any failsafe compressor protection

M47R Diesel 2.0 litre

If the ECT sensor registers an engine coolant temperatures of:

Old 3 speed Configuration:
Between 100°C and 105°C, =Low fan speed
Between 106°C and 111°C, = Medium fan speed.
Between 112°C and 119°C, = High speed.

Kenlowe 2 speed Configuration:
Between 100°C and 105°C, =Low fan speed
Between 106°C and 119°C, = High fan speed.

Top wires from Control box.
Photo taken before fully soldered!

Another recommendation is to re-position the Control Box next to battery box. Length of Kenlowe wires allow this.
If a relay goes faulty at a later date, no dismantling of front end required!

Any further thoughts are most welcome.
