Default Double din facia adapter

Hi gang, I am set on getting a CarPC up and running. I want a 7" touchscreen in the dash.
As knowone seems to able able to find a cheap alternative to the £100+ facia plates from the states, I wondered if this one from email could be hacked around. Any ideas or suggestions.

Its only £8 I might get one and have a go! Keep you all posted.

I'm not so sure, the X5 fascia doesnt seem to have the usual fittings of the 3-Series E45 stereo adapters.

It may be easier to make your own fascia adapter from MDF. Coat it in some leather that matches your seats/dash. You'd then need to construct a support device for the touchscreen monitor. Brackets would be the way to go but you'd need to find a way of attatching them to the bulkhead, possibly using one of the few pre-drilled holes behind the centre console.

Well, that would be a better start (I think I've got one of those hanging around somewhere in my garage....)

Anyways, yes I suppose you could modifiy it somehow. I looked at this briefly myself but having no decent tools I decided not to bother. The problem lies with getting the edging finished off nicely. You'd also still need to construct suitable supports for the monitor as by modifying the fascia adapter you will remove the supports it has on it.

If you have good tools and a steady hand then you could produce a good looking result. Best of luck with it!
