Handbrake retainers
While changing a rear bearing I noticed some non-standard handbrake shoe retainers had been fitted. The back plates were quite corroded, and many of us have experienced the situation when standard retainers just won’t hold anymore. Volvo, Porsche type springs were used (lots on eBay) , could be a useful alternative while waiting for DMGRS back plate replacements.

I used Ford pin and collet with springs and a big washer on mine Michael 😎 A nyloc nut and 4mm bolt also works

Thanks for the reply, I've used a similar long bolt and nyloc in the past, but one side was quite fiddly.
These springs hold well and are much easier to fit, reassuring to know that Volvo & Porsche use these as standard. Regards |
