He has 60 in stock all dated with the same batch date code. I have posted this to try and help in someway members who may be concerned about the situation, including other parties looking for a supplier. No other supplier i tried to contact about belt dates opted to reply, which was very dissapointing , and probably reflects the dates on the belts if stamped at all. Hope this helps in some way.
Hi Stefan.
The Ebay number does not work it only has 11 digits as opposed to 12 for ebay items.

Is this the seller below.

If this is who I think it is, it all kicked off on Facebook a few days ago. The supplier has posted out a statement, after checking round other suppliers, it seems their belts are the most recent.

Sounds to me like some manufacturers will bulk produce one set with enough to last a good few years.
Just my observations having read the FB chain.
If it is this well known supplier, get in touch with them - they're happy to help.

The number sequence and amount of digits differs from the Dayco belt coding so I have no way of knowing what the year of manufacture is for this Gates timing belt? It does have the number 12 on it however, so does that indicate another 2012 stock item? I’ve emailed Gates directly for an explanation of the belt number but have had no reply so far (they cannot be telephoned)

For those members on here who have posted that they always go for Gates belts, can you please tell me how you know the age of the belts you use because I have searched and searched and searched the internet without an answer.

As it stands, as I don’t have definite proof that the Gates belt has been sitting around on a shelf for the last 12 years, I’m sticking with that and will ask DMGRS to refund me for the Dayco belt.

It just goes to show, that with Rimmers apparently holding 2008 new old stock, and other online and motor factor suppliers having no knowledge of the age of the belts they order from their suppliers or get from their central warehouse, DMGRS are certainly not alone with this issue and as far as I can see are being the most proactive in addressing the problem on our behalf.

If anyone can get a new production run initiated it will be Mat, Scott and Max at DMGRS.

In light of my own experiences in this last week, I defy anyone at the present time to actually find and buy a brand new belt with proof of its manufacture date, it’s actually an impossible task!
Thank you for your support - of course we'll happily refund the Dayco item.
If possible, can you pop a quick email over and I'll sort it when I'm back in later.

Fingers crossed the Gates part does the job nicely; I'm sure it will!

We'll of course supply a replacement (once we have newer stock) or refund for the front cambelt itself if people would rather have them changed - my apologies, I should have been clearer.

We've already said (on here, in writing) that we will warrant the belt for the full 6 years or 90,000 miles in previous posts.

That is indeed us - thankfully most on the thread are happy with our plan of action to resolve this and we're making good progress with finding replacements that are a lot newer to supply as part of kits going forwards.

We're always happy to help, and if people would like a written statement that we're offering a 6 year warranty on the part then they just need to drop us a quick email and we'll be happy to do so.

It's worthy of note that we've asked a lot of enthusiasts we work with to check their belts supplied by us and fitted anywhere up to 6 years ago to check the state of theirs - not a single belt has ANY signs of unusual wear, cracking etc which is great news for everyone.
As we always have been, we're 100% sure these are absolutely fine to use - but we will be finding newer stock going forwards.

Just a quick update - after speaking to a Dayco distributor this afternoon (and getting them to rifle through their stock) we are pleased to say all stock will now be 2021 or newer - we will also make sure any incoming stock is checked before it's put on the shelf.
Again, if anyone would like their belts swapped please get in touch via email and we'll be happy to help.

Apologies for any distress caused - over the last few days I've learned this issue stretches far beyond us (so keep an eye out if ordering from elsewhere!), and I'm hoping other retailers and distributors who also carry this older stock will be disposing of it and replenishing with fresh belts soon.

We've been speaking lots of enthusiasts over the last few days, all with belts from this batch at various stages in their life cycle and we're pleased to confirm none have any evidence of cracking etc - they appear to be absolutely fine in service.

As always, we're grateful to the community for supporting us and helping us solve this issue - you're all wonderful.

This problem has been around for quite some time unknowingly to us all. It seems to be a problem that has been here for quite some time and with all fairness to DMGRS the supply options were just not out there. The issue is with very few exceptions throughout the suppliers over here. Well done mat for taking up the mantle on our behalf. ...
