Ford’s strategy will have two obvious outcomes, either it will force people to buy their EVs, or drive them into other manufacturers’ showrooms.

Spineless manufacturers. The way the car industry is going, there will be none in 20 years time, unless someone has the guts to stop the stupid mass drive to a strategic defeat for car manufacturers. Who will be the first manufacturer to throw down the gauntlet to governments I wonder. Anyone have an inkling?

It is all very well trying to keep the moral highground on climate change, but many of the aims such as heat pumps will not be met because of the total lack of sufficient people to install them, even if desireable or practical.

Plus the fact, from what I have read, the noise factor from them, plus not really efficient are they. Another money spinner for the people who make them.

If the Government continues with this ridiculous ZEV mandate I can see manufacturers pulling out of the UK entirely. We've already seen Chrysler, Chevrolet, Daihatsu and Mitsubishi pulling out of the UK in recent years, I expect others may follow.

It's going to be much harder for Ford as they sell a lot of ICE vans, They've had to put a bigger battery in their Transit-E van this year to hopefully sell more. It's not just car manufacturers under the cosh.

HGV truck manufacturers will come under the same CO2 emission standards mandate next year for the first time ever, It will be really hard to clean up that sector & expensive to boot, buses have to be decarbonised entirely.

A good friend who has a business car and is lucky to be given a budget and if he wants to top this up he can so basically he can have almost anything he wants, the company also pay the servicing as 75% of his mileage is work related.
Anyway he is in the market for a new car, he has been to Ford and basically was told they have nothing left in ICE in the next month or so but plenty of EV's. He has been to several other manufacturers and has been told a similar story. Finally out of desperation he has gone to BMW and ordered a top spec 3 series with the 3.0 Engine, none in stock in the UK but it will be here in 3 to 4 weeks factory fresh so he can choose everything. How are BMW getting away with it?
Personally I reckon the 2035 will be pushed back another few years when who ever is in power can see new car sales declining and the infrastructure is not ready for the EV's revolution. Hmm.

BMW's EV sales are pretty healthy & they can still sell a certain amount of ICE cars.
Most other auto manufacturers have been told to sell EV's first & foremost otherwise the fines per ICE cars oversold will pile up.

Some of us saw this looming on the horizon. The thing about economists and bankers is they know a lot about increasing and guaranteeing profits but precious little about the public's ability to pay for them. The threats are emerging with increased projected penalties for non-compliance.

Above all, our tiny island is still living in an Empire rather than a tiny offshore supplicant of the USA. Our apparent delusions of grandeur are turning this tiny heavenly Isle into a suicidal money trap.

Those of us who are of a certain maturity should be taking care of the future for our family descendants while we can. The peasants are revolting!

Default NET ZERO is a political scam

E cars are a folly this net zero agenda will collapse under its own weight in a little more time just like the covid scam is coming out now in real time. I'm sure we all know it but just in case some folks still believe man made climate change is going to do bad things think again and look at this graphic, CO2 on Earth is at all time low, if it goes much lower there is a risk life will begin to die out on this planet since C02 is the gas of life and nothing lives without it it is essential as equal as oxygen to life. Ask weed farmers and such who increase CO2 to increase plant yield i.e. it makes things grow bigger and stronger.
