MOT fail today, fluctuating brake issue
Tested this morning three items to address.
Repair immediately (major defects): a-Rear Exhaust has a major leak of exhaust gases (6.1.2 (a)) b-Nearside Brake pipe excessively corroded front to rear (1.1.11 (c)) c-Nearside Rear Service brake excessively fluctuating (1.2.1 (e)) I don't have the tools for brake pipes so someone else will have to do that. I fitted the current exhaust, so that's not an issue. A bit unsure on c) is that likely to be a caliper issue? Wouldn't be caused by the corrosion would it? I fitted new rear pads last week, and one side was worn slightly unevenly. i think it was the nearside. |

Regarding the NSR service brake, yes, check caliper operation. Simon

I spoke to the mechanic yesterday when I collected the car.
He said the fluctuation would be the discs. so I've ordered a pair for just over £50, so I'll change them. I've a feeling that a brake line was replaced previously before I had the car, so this maybe the other pipe of the pair. They've quoted about £20 parts plus labour so I can't complain too much about that. I can get an exhaust for £190 fitted, or between £115 and £160 to buy it myself. Hope to get it sorted next week.
