Default MOT fail today, fluctuating brake issue

Tested this morning three items to address.

Repair immediately (major defects):
a-Rear Exhaust has a major leak of exhaust gases (6.1.2 (a))
b-Nearside Brake pipe excessively corroded front to rear (1.1.11 (c))
c-Nearside Rear Service brake excessively fluctuating (1.2.1 (e))

I don't have the tools for brake pipes so someone else will have to do that.
I fitted the current exhaust, so that's not an issue.

A bit unsure on c) is that likely to be a caliper issue? Wouldn't be caused by the corrosion would it?
I fitted new rear pads last week, and one side was worn slightly unevenly. i think it was the nearside.

That's a strange one! Both brake pipes run side by side from front to rear on the offside. It would be unusual for one of these to corrode excessively and the other to be fine. I'd ask for more information on that one Andy before opening your wallet.

Regarding the NSR service brake, yes, check caliper operation.

I spoke to the mechanic yesterday when I collected the car.
He said the fluctuation would be the discs. so I've ordered a pair for just over £50, so I'll change them.
I've a feeling that a brake line was replaced previously before I had the car, so this maybe the other pipe of the pair. They've quoted about £20 parts plus labour so I can't complain too much about that.

I can get an exhaust for £190 fitted, or between £115 and £160 to buy it myself.
Hope to get it sorted next week.
