Default New callsign

Hi.
I passed the Radio Amateur Full License exam on Thursday the 20th and today was able to access my account on OFCOM and get my new license. Although I couldn't get the suffix I wanted or any that was relevant to my name etc I had to plump for the next available one which is MM0KJJ. Well pleased to have passed so next is to learn Morse code.

Congratulations - you should be able to learn that that callsign in a day, the K being the only slightly difficult one, should flow quite well

Mike

ps. My last ship had GYQG, that didn't flow at all well

Congratulations Trevor, quite an achievement. The morse code will be another one.

I had a friend who tried to learn morse, it sent him dotty!

Well done Trevor. I passed the Amateur Radio licence exam about 30+ years ago. In those days there were 2 levels A and B as I recall. With an A licence you passed the exam and then had to do the morse test to get the B licence (the A and B might be the other way round?). In those days you couldn't go on HF without having passed the morse test, but that has all changed now I believe and those with the licence but without the morse can go on HF? I've not been on the radio for many years, must get the radio out.

Yes you should, conditions are great now, even 10 meter is open almost every day. So, put on a dipole, get the radio out and let's have a QSO on 40!
